Update 1.0.1f — the balance patch

Released to everyone after a public experimental beta, 1.0.1f is the patch most guides mean when they reference "the balance patch."

Engine and performance

  • Updated to a newer Love2D build, which fixed stuttering performance on Windows and the Steam Deck.

Accessibility and UI

  • Added a Reduced Motion toggle that removes the swirly background and most card animation.
  • Eternal, Rental and Perishable stickers moved to the top-left corner of cards.
  • Upcoming blinds and tags became visible in the shop immediately after a Boss Blind, so you can plan the next ante before spending.

Balance

  • Adjustments to several poker hand scores and joker rarities.
  • Nerfs to the Sinful Jokers (the suit-based common jokers).
  • The Perishable joker mechanic — jokers that expire after a set number of rounds — is part of this balance era.

We list balance changes at the level the developer and community wikis confirm them. Exact per-joker numbers are tracked on the wikis, which we link below, rather than reproduced here where they could drift out of date.

Switch 2 Edition notes

Nintendo lists Balatro for Nintendo Switch 2 separately. Launch coverage described it as a performance and input update rather than a content patch:

  • 60 FPS — removes the 30 FPS cap that was unique to the original Switch version.
  • Mouse Mode — optional mouse-style input that suits the click-driven UI.
  • Upgrade path and save-data caveat — reported by launch coverage, but verify current details on Nintendo's store page before buying or transferring.

Cosmetic updates: Friends of Jimbo

The Friends of Jimbo collaborations added crossover decks and card backs from other games. These are cosmetic — they do not affect scoring — but they shipped with later 1.0.1 version bumps.
